Battata Beach Bar: One of Aruba’s Best Kept Secrets
When most visitors think about beach bars in Aruba, they usually head straight for the busy Palm Beach scene. But if you’re looking to escape the crowds, slow things down, and enjoy a laid-back local vibe, there’s one spot that Aruba Buddy keeps coming back to: Battata Beach Bar.
Located on the southern side of the island near San Nicolas, Battata is one of those hidden gems that somehow flies under the radar. And honestly, that’s part of what makes it so special.
The first time Steady Eddy and I stopped in, we were welcomed by Sophia behind the bar. Her hospitality was second to none and she immediately made us feel like regulars. Since that visit, Battata has become an Aruba Buddy favorite. The entire staff has always been friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to see you. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, grab a drink, and forget about the hustle and bustle for a while.
As for the food? Absolutely worth the drive.
My go-to order is the Catch of the Day. It comes with all the classic fixings—beans, rice, fried plantains, and fresh island flavors. I always ask them to prepare the fish blackened. It’s not officially on the menu, but they usually make it happen, and it never disappoints.
Another must-order item is the Chicken Satay Skewers with peanut sauce. These things are fire. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and great for sharing—or not sharing at all.
Of course, no beach bar visit is complete without a cold drink in hand. Battata offers a full bar, but I usually keep it simple and order a Bucket of Chill. Nothing beats sitting by the water with a bucket of ice-cold beers while taking in the Caribbean breeze.
Whenever I’m heading down toward San Nicolas, I almost always plan a stop at Battata. Whether it’s for a couple of beers, a relaxed lunch, or simply a break from the busier tourist areas, this place never disappoints.
If you’re looking for a beach bar that’s a little off the beaten path, with great food, cold drinks, amazing staff, and a relaxed atmosphere, Battata Beach Bar deserves a spot on your Aruba itinerary.
It’s an Aruba Buddy favorite.
Go check them out—and tell them Aruba Buddy sent you.
