The Ultimate Burger Experience at Azar Aruba 🍔🇦🇼
If you’ve been following Aruba Buddy for a while, you know I’ve spent a lot of time eating my way through the island — from hidden beach shacks to fine-dining gems. But this one? This was special.
A few weeks back, I set up a VIP burger tasting at Azar Aruba, one of the island’s hottest spots for elevated comfort food. I’ve known Chef Teddy and Miguel, the owners, for years now and have always admired what they’ve built with their restaurant group — Azar, Lima Bistro, and Ever by Chef Peña some of the best restaurants on the island.

Meet the Dream Team 🍴
Chef Teddy is an absolute culinary powerhouse — a perfectionist in every sense, running his kitchens with passion, precision, and attention to detail. His original restaurant, Lima Bistro, showcases his Peruvian roots and remains one of my favorite dining experiences on the island. Might just be the Best Restaurant in Aruba.
Miguel, on the other hand, came from the world of shipping and cargo before diving into hospitality — and he’s absolutely crushing it. Azar was his first restaurant, and the energy, leadership, and love he’s poured into it show in every detail, from the service to the atmosphere.

The Quest for a New Burger, 6 Burgers Monday-Friday but only one will take the Crown 🍔 + 🍸
I saw some local bloggers come through recently to try all six burgers on Azar’s new Monday-Saturday Burger lineup, and you know me — I couldn’t resist jumping in. I messaged Miguel and said, “Hey, can I do the same?” and he immediately replied, “Absolutely.”
Before I knew it, he and Chef Teddy had set up a full-blown VIP burger experience for me, my dentist (yes, my dentist!), his wife, their friends Steve and Liz, and my girlfriend Melissa. My dentist actually inspired this whole trip — he was heading to Aruba for a short getaway, and I decided to join for a few days.
Six burgers, six friends, and a few surprises along the way.
What I didn’t know was that each burger came with a custom paired cocktail — and whichever burger ends up officially winning, will make it onto the permanent menu, and the cocktail also. That’s the kind of creativity that makes Azar so fun to visit.

The Verdict: Best Burger in Aruba? 🏆
Every single burger we tried was a 10 out of 10. From the presentation to the balance of flavors, you could tell the kitchen took pride in every detail. My personal Top 3?
1️⃣ The Aruburger – classic island flair with a bold, juicy twist.
Caramelized Plantains | Caramelized Pineapple | Smoked Gouda | Pica di Papaya Sauce
2️⃣ The Peppercorn Burger – that sauce was insane.
Cognac Peppercorn Sauce | Braised Short Rib | Pickles | Swiss
3️⃣ The Mediterranean Burger – bright, savory, and totally different.
Feta | Peach Jam | Chimichurri | Habanero | Zaatar
Honestly though, there wasn’t a single weak link. Azar might just serve the best burger in Aruba — period.

Beyond the Burger 🍽️
Of course, Azar’s menu goes way beyond burgers. Some of my all-time favorites include the scallops, chicken croquettes, Watashi rice, Sous Vide Short Rib, perfectly cooked steaks and the pork chop. Their chicken might just be the best on the island.
And you cannot leave without dessert — the churros paired with a Carajillo has become my new addiction.

If you’re visiting Aruba and looking for an unforgettable meal, Azar should be at the top of your list. It’s not just about the food — it’s about the experience, the people, and the heart behind it all.
For something a bit more elevated, check out Chef Teddy’s Lima Bistro Peruvian Cuisine, arguably one of the best restaurants on the island. And if you’re into intimate, chef-driven tasting menus, Ever is right up there among Aruba’s finest I’d even call it the Best!
